Altered Esthetics is a nonprofit organization, who is inclusive and supportive towards our local arts community.  We value community engagement, diversity, authenticity, and access.  
There are different ways you can become involved with Altered Esthetics: you can volunteer, intern, or become a board member.  Please make sure to check on this page for our open positions.

Board Positions

Do you have a passion for the arts and experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, grant writing, or finance? Are you interested in serving on the board of an active community-based arts organization?

Altered Esthetics seeks board members with experience in arts, fundraising, nonprofit governance, and finance. Generally, position terms last from 1-3 years, depending on the needs and desires of the incoming board member. Members generally donate 3-10 hours a week on Ae related tasks.

We are currently seeking the individuals for following board positions:

Organizes Ae's budget while managing spending and income.
The function of the Secretary is to organize and compile critical organizational documents, including minutes and paperwork of the board.

We are currently taking applications for the following internship positions:

Curatorial Internship - Group & Solo Exhibitions

Co-Curating - Artist Focused - Creating Experience

Altered Esthetics' Internship program offers training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in curating and managing the high-quality group and solo exhibitions. Our rigorous annual exhibition schedule provides many opportunities for active learning in a dynamic environment. 

Curatorial internships generally last 4-9 months, depending on the needs and interests of the intern. The time commitment for Curatorial Assistant interns varies from 5 to 15 hours per week. Duties include but are not limited to recruiting artists, reviewing/selecting submissions, attending bi-weekly curatorial meetings or as scheduled, generating content for Altered Esthetics blog and social media sites, serve as a gallery monitor, and assisting during the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions. 

The first and last parts of an exhibition require a greater time commitment, as that is when shows are closing and opening. 

Interns must be highly available for evenings and weekends during the course of their internship. Internships can be completed for college credits.
