I’ve often said that the best visual art doesn’t look like it was made, but rather like it has always existed organically and was merely unearthed by the artist. I will give this compliment to Rachel Orman’s work in Of Love and Liberty currently on view at the Nomad and presented by Altered Esthetics .

I had the pleasure of meeting artist Michael Weatherly at the Nomad Pub last Tuesday for the opening of his solo show Figures and Faces: New Works. I was previously unaware of Weatherly, a printmaker and painter from the Elbow Lake area of Western Minnesota, and was pleased to find that his subtle work is poetic and at times heartbreaking.
